A court or a green is the one surface where the base is not just about longevity, it is about how the thing plays. A ball that bounces off true or a putt that breaks where it should not comes down to millimetres in the levels. That is why we build these ourselves rather than laying a surface over groundwork somebody else did.

What we build
Basketball Keys & Half Courts
Key courts and half courts sized to the space you actually have, in paved surface or sports turf. Pick the hoop you want and we take care of the rest: the footing goes in concreted and plumb, tied into the base, so the post stays exactly where it was set. On a turf court the lines are white turf cut into the surface, not paint, so they keep their colour instead of fading out after a couple of summers.
Putting Greens & Mini Golf
Putting greens with the contours built into the base, and full mini golf runs with holes, edges and obstacles. Specialty turf with the right pile height so the ball actually rolls.
Play & Multi-Sport Surfaces
Playground and daycare surfaces, coloured and custom shapes, hopscotch and chess lawns, bocce runs, and multi-use areas that take more than one game.
How We Build It
How a court gets built
The tolerances here are tighter than a lawn, so the sequence is stricter too.
Size and set out
We work the playable dimensions back from the space you have and where the run-off needs to be, so there is room to move behind the line. Getting that right is what makes a court play properly rather than just fill the yard.
Excavate and level
Dug out and brought to level. On a court, level is a measured thing rather than an eyeballed one, because the surface has to read true when a ball hits it.
Base and compaction
Basecourse laid and compacted in layers to a tight tolerance. Any soft spot here becomes a dead spot in the bounce, and it will not show up until the surface is already down.
Contours, where the game needs them
A putting green gets its breaks and slopes shaped into the base itself, not faked with the turf on top. A court gets the opposite: dead flat, with only enough fall to shed water.
Surface and fixings
Paving or sports turf laid, and any hoop, post or net footing concreted in and set plumb. Fixings go in tied to the base, so nothing works loose with use.
Cut the lines in, then finish
On turf, the lines are strips of white turf cut into the green and seamed in, set out to the right dimensions for the game. It is slower than painting them on, and it is the reason the lines still look right in five years instead of going grey in two. Then infill gets brushed in, and somebody shoots on it before we hand it over.

Unlike a lawn or a path, a court is mostly the same build wherever it goes - the tolerances are set by the game, not by the soil. What does change between areas is getting there and getting a machine in.
Courts and putting greens in the Bay of Plenty
Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Te Puke and Rotorua. Our home region, so a court here is a same-day trip and the set-out visit costs you nothing. On coastal sand the compaction is the work; on the clay inland from Tauranga and through Te Puke, a court gets its drainage sorted first or the base softens and the bounce goes dead in patches.
Courts and putting greens in the Waikato
Hamilton, Thames and the Coromandel. The build is the same, but access and peat are not. Peat keeps settling, and on a court that shows up as a dead spot rather than a crack, so the base gets more compaction than a lawn would. Where a machine cannot reach - Hamilton gully sections, steep Coromandel sites - the base material goes in by barrow, and we price that before we start rather than finding it on day one.
