What that means for the build
Because sand drains, drainage is rarely the problem here. Compaction is. Loose sand will not hold a level surface on its own, so the basecourse has to be built up and compacted properly and the edges restrained, or the turf shifts and ripples where people walk. Small sections also mean far more edge and cut work per square metre than a big open lawn, which is where the labour actually goes.
